Costa Rica; a year-round destination and home to some of the happiest people on the planet!

With direct flights from the UK Costa Rica has never been so accessible. But this amazing country has invested heavily in its environment, nature and wildlife, making it a wonderful destination whatever your interests.

National parks protect 26% of Costa Rica, and the landscapes range from lush green rainforests and mountain ranges to active volcanoes and cloud forests.
Home to 5%of the world’s bio-diversity, but accounting for only 0.3% of its land mass, amazing wildlife can be seen everywhere.

It is home to Sloths, Jaguars, Monkeys and beautiful birdlife. For eight months a year you can go whale watching and spot the great humpbacked whale, and you can encounter Green Sea Turtles, Hawksbill and Leatherback Turtles all year around. But if you want to catch the magical nesting of these great creatures then visit between February to April or July to October.

Costa Rica is also a great place to combine exciting activities with rest and relaxation. Try the zip line through the clouds at Monteverde, or try white water rafting all year around on the Pacuare River. Surfers and divers also love Costa Rica as it has some of the best surfing in the world. Isla del Cano is a perfect diving destination on the Pacific coast. This is where you can come face to face with Hammerhead and white finned sharks as well as the awesome whale shark and graceful ray fish.

The beaches are certainly worth spending some time to enjoy. With two quite distinct coastlines there are many beautiful, white beaches to relax on and accommodation that ranges from eco lodges to five-star hotels.

Before you head home, make sure you have visited one of Costa Rica’s many volcanos. One of the most popular excursions is to Arenal Volcano National Park to see the Arenal Volcano. Thanks to all of this geothermal activity there are hot springs throughout the area for visitors to relax in after a busy day’s exploring.
