Are you, like me feeling a tad depressed by the British summer weather?
Well, here is the good news – as well as the removal of many of the Covid-19 restrictions in the UK, the international travel market received some good news this week with more countries being added to the green list and the scrapping of the Amber ‘watch list’ which had caused so much uncertainty.
So what has changed?
The countries added to the Green list are: Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Latvia, Romania and Norway. So, here’s a great opportunity to explore somewhere a bit different and not too far away.
Our nearest neighbour France, whilst remaining Amber, is no longer the confusing ‘Amber Plus’. Destinations further afield are also going in the right direction. The UAE (including Dubai), India, Qatar and Bahrain will move from Red to Amber and remember, this means that anyone fully vaccinated or under 18, does not need to isolate on return to the UK.
All changes come into effect at 4am on Sunday 8th August. So this makes a proper summer holiday possible again for so many people. As the Transport Secretary Grant Shapps told Sky News: “Today is good news. It means more travel during the summer”. He added, “People should be able to go away and enjoy their holidays without looking over their shoulders the whole time”.
Has this impacted holiday enquiries?
Since this week’s travel announcement, the enquiries for immediate holiday getaways and the October half-term period have really taken off. The telephones are ringing and the holiday industry is responding with some great last minute deals.
So, if you are looking out of the window today and wondering what on earth has happened to the British summer weather, why not call me and take advantage of the deals on offer while they are still there.
I can help with all your travel arrangements including Covid travel insurance if required, and guidance on destination entry requirements and tests. It really isn’t as complicated as you might think, and from this weekend it’s getting simpler.
