If I’ve learned anything in my years of helping people with their holidays, it’s that the word ‘travel’ means something different to everyone.
For some, it’s about finding somewhere warm and beautiful for a ‘fly and flop’ holiday, and there’s nothing wrong with that – holidays are an important way to relax, recuperate and spend time with the people we love.
For others, travel is about the opportunity to explore. And the great news is that you can actually do both of these things, and bring back some truly extraordinary memories.
Here are some questions to ask yourself when you’re thinking about your next holiday:
- Is there an activity you really enjoy – or something you’ve always wanted to do?
- Do you want to learn a new skill, or involve yourself with local traditions?
- Are there opportunities to really experience your destination’s culture?
- Will there be something there to suit everyone in your family or group?
With the right holiday itinerary, you can find the perfect blend of relaxation and discovery. You absolutely don’t have to be on the go, visiting attractions every day. Instead, think about the activities you really enjoy, and plan a couple of the best experiences into your travel plans.
The best of both worlds in Italy
Towards the end of last year, I had a fantastic trip to Umbria. Known as ‘The Green Heart of Italy’, Umbria is the perfect place for a holiday that combines relaxation with exploration. After all, if you’re going somewhere completely new, you’ll genuinely have a more rounded experience if you build a bit of local discovery into your trip.
I stayed in top-quality luxury hotels, where pools, spas and incredible views all contributed to a real sense of being away from it all. The welcome from the families running these hotels was warm and genuine, so I was instantly relaxed – although the two-and-a-half-hour flight from London wasn’t really that stressful!
In between sipping drinks on the balcony, I took in some of the local culture and attractions – from visiting ancient churches and monasteries in Assisi to going on a truffle hunt! It was the perfect way both to chill out and to take part in the wonderful experiences that Umbria has to offer.
How can you find the perfect holiday blend?
In order to put together a holiday that wraps up the best hotels, exclusive treats and the best experiences, you need access to a bit of inside information. And that’s what you get from me.
I’ll take the time to find out what you really want from a holiday – what everyone in your group wants – and put together a bespoke itinerary that works for everyone. I can give you plenty of options, allowing you to select the experiences, adventures or locations that appeal to you most.
Importantly, I’m sensitive to budget and specific requirements, using my relationships across the world’s best destinations to create a holiday you’ll remember for all the right reasons. And, of course, all my holidays are fully ABTA protected, so you can book and travel with confidence.
